Babita Phogat career

In 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship was held in Jalandhar, Punjab, in which he won the gold medal in wrestling with a weight of 51 kg. He also won a silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi. This victory proved to be a turning point in his career. Along with this, he has also received a bronze medal in the 2012 World Wrestling Competition. Then in the 2011 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship, Babita Phogat won the gold medal in 48 kg freestyle. In the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championship tournament held in Delhi, Babita Kumari defeated Han Kum Off of North Korea in 55 kg freestyle wrestling.

The year 2014 was a new milestone for her achievement, defeating her rival Kathryn Marsh of Scotland 4:1 in the 55kg freestyle wrestling at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She defeated England’s Louisa Porogovska to reach the semi-finals, then beat Canada’s Brittany Laverdure to win 3:1, and she won the gold medal. Babita could not repeat her victory in the 2014 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. She could only win a bronze medal in this competition.

In the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championship, Babita Kumari went to the final and lost to North Korea’s Pak Yong Mi in the last 5 seconds, and lost her chance to reach the final. 

He represented India along with his cousin Vinesh Phogat in the 2016 Rio Olympics which was held in Rio de Janeiro. She was the third and final entry in Indian wrestling for the Olympics. She failed the doping test in the qualifying tournament. She lost 1-5 in the first round itself.
